About the design
Hello Brendan and team! Excited to see what work is chosen for the 2026 Wine of the Year! This painting Confluence is about finding the places in life where things join together to make something bigger, just as you have done with the Lokal! A confluence in nature is where two flowing rivers/creeks/etc meet. While painting this I considered how when people come together, we are so much more capable of creating beautiful changes in the world! Thank you for this fun contest!
About the artist
Growing up in a missionary cult, I was taught to trust others more than myself. Now, I create dynamic artwork to build connection with myself, others and the world while inviting those who encounter my work to do the same. My practice explores permission, connection and the complexity of being human both on our own and in community. I am interested in what happens when we allow ourselves to be seen, felt and known, including the parts of ourselves that we have learned to hide. Using movement, poetry, photography, and painting, I explore identity and vulnerability, belonging and separateness. I am drawn to peeling back the layers and looking deeply at the stories we hold in our bodies. My goal is to create pieces and moments of deep human feeling, where we remember that we are human, together.
